Abstract

Kolong is a basin area filled with water as a result of tin mining. The number of collars in Bangka Belitung is 887 with an area of 11712.65 Ha. The collars are scattered in Bangka island with 544 holes with an area of 1035.51 Ha and Belitung island with 343 holes with an area of 677.14 Ha. The comparison between the area of Bangka is 0.09% and Belitung island is 0.14%. (PT Timah Tbk, 2000). The pit has great potential to provide economic impact to the community such as fisheries and tourism potential. However, the community mostly utilizes kolong for bathing and washing while the rest is left unattended.

The Community Learning and Empowerment Program (KKN PPM) of the Universitas Bangka Belitung, which raises the theme of the Utilization Model of Former Tin Mine Underground Resources to Improve the Socio-Economic Quality of the Community Towards Green Economy Development in Parit Padang Village, Sungailiat District, Bangka Regency, is funded by DIKTI. The objectives of the KKN-PPM program can be divided into three, namely: community empowerment, enhancing the role of higher education, and supporting the government. KKN PPM consists of 45 students who are divided into three groups. Group 1 is located in Bukit Betung Village, Group 2 is located in Parit Padang Village and Group 3 is located in Merawang District. Each group was assigned to run the main program and supporting programs.

The KKN PPM program at the Universitas Bangka Belitung has been successfully implemented with active community involvement in every activity. For this reason, universities need to implement more programs that empower the community. This KKN PPM has also made Apat and Merawang pits a model of planned pits management. They have created comprehensive maps and development plans to empower the community. For this reason, in addition to making local regulations, the local government should set aside the APBD for the management of the empties. The government is also expected to be able to realize the site plan and master plan for the Apat and Merawang pits in collaboration with various parties in order to improve the socio-economic quality of the community. Last but not least, the community must play a role in the Kolong Lovers Community to maintain and care for the kolong.
