Sexual Dimorphism and Growth Rate of Emperor Fish Wich are Landed in Pelabuhan Perikanan Nusantara (PPN) Sungailiat, Bangka Regency
Abstract
Emperor fish (Lethrinus lentjan) is one type of reef fish from Lethrinidae family. This fish is catch target of fishermen who are used as consumption and an important food for humans. This study aims to determine sexual dimorphism based on morphometrics and meristics, growth rate, condition factors, and age of fish. Sampling was carried out from January to March 2019 at Pelabuhan Perikanan Nusantara (PPN) Sungailiat, Bangka Regency. The results of three month study indicated that sexual dimorphism of emperor fish can be seen from morphometric character of the height of the base tail, where male fish had a larger height base of the tail than female fish . The growth rate value of male and female fish is included in negative allometric with the condition factor of fish has a K value < 1, which means the value of fish development is not good. The age of all male and female fish ranges from 1 to 3 years.
