The Prevalence Of Parasitic Worms In Little Tuna (Euthynnus affinis) Landed At Nusantara Fishery Harbor Sungailiat Bangka Regency
Abstract
The existence of parasitic worms in fish can diminish the value of the fish. This research aims to identify the type of parasitic worms that infect the little tuna (Euthynus affinis) with the prevalence rate, examine the intermediate host of the parasite and examine the most infected fish based on the total length. This research conducted in January 2020 at nusantara fishery harbor of Sungailiat Bangka Regency using the random sampling method. The results showed that the parasitic worms that infect the little tuna consist of species from Didymozoon lobatum that infect the gills with the often prevalence category which is 23.190%, Dinurus tornatus, Dinurus scombri, and Rhadinorhynchus Pristis that infects the stomach and intestine with prevalence respectively often with the amount of number 2.898%, 1.449% and 24.640% for occasionally category. There was no parasite found in the muscle of the fish and the abdominal cavity. The composition of the food consists of Synedra sp (4,547%), Nocticulla scintillans(0,395%), Coscinodiscus raidatus (0,110%), Melosira varians (2,384%) and shrimp larvae. The results showed that the largest food index of little tuna (Euthynnus affinis) is the shrimp larvae with the index of preponderance of 89.170% and suspected as the intermediate host of the parasite. The result indicated that there was no parasite in fish with a total length under 25 cm. Little tuna that infected by parasitic worms is dominated in the size with the range of 32 – 34,1cm with the most commonly parasitic worms found is the species from Rhadinorhynchus pristis.
