Literasi sebagai Aksi Penanaman Karakter Peduli Lingkungan Di SMPN 1 Simpang Pesak Belitung Timur
Abstract
Cultivating the character of caring for the environment through literacy is a crucial effort in forming a generation that is responsible for nature conservation, especially in the midst of global environmental challenges such as climate change and environmental degradation. The focus of this research is on environmental issues arising from tin mining in Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Indonesia. Through the active participation of the younger generation, collaboration between various parties, and the use of books as a source of literacy, this research aims to increase awareness of environmental law and care for the environment among junior high school students. The method of implementing this activity involves a participatory, collaborative, and creative approach. Through two-way dialogue, discussions, and case studies, students are involved in understanding environmental and legal issues related to the mining industry. The submission of books on law and the environment to the school library aims to increase students' environmental literacy and expand their horizons to various problems in the legal world. The results highlight the complexity of environmental issues related to tin mining, including reclamation governance, law enforcement, and conflicts of interest between governments, mining companies, and local communities. Although efforts have been made to address these issues, the challenges faced are still significant and require a holistic approach and good coordination between all stakeholders. It is hoped that through the cultivation of environmental care through literacy, the younger generation will become agents of change who are more responsible in protecting and preserving the environment, as well as have a better understanding of the environmental laws that apply in the context of tin mining in Bangka Belitung.
