The Role of Extenders Towards the Productivity of Horticulture Businesses in Merawang District, Bangka District

Abstract

One of the agricultural sectors developed in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province is horticultural agriculture. The production of food and horticultural crops is increased to reduce dependence on food supplies from outside the region. In order to increase the amount of production and quality of farming, extension workers are needed who can help farmers overcome obstacles in developing farming such as low productivity. This research aims to analyze the influence of the role of extension workers on the productivity of Horticulture farming in Merawang District, Bangka Regency. The research was carried out from June to August 2023, namely in four villages out of ten villages in Merawang District. The research locations were determined purposively, namely Baturusa Village, Pagarawan Village, Balunijuk Village, and Jada Bahrin. The research method used is a survey method. The sampling method used was Cluster random sampling with a sample of 65 respondents. Data testing and analysis used multiple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS Version 24.0. The research results show that collectively the role of agricultural instructors as facilitators, organizers, motivators, educators and supervisors has a positive and significant effect on the productivity of horticultural farming in Merawang District. Partially, farming productivity in Merawang District, Bangka Regency is influenced positively and significantly by the role of facilitator, motivator, educator and supervisor.
