Coastal Tourism Development Strategy on Land Suitability and Carrying Capacity of the Pasir Kuning Beach Tourism Area, Air Lintang Village, Tempilang

Abstract

Tourism development can have both positive and negative impacts on the environment and the economy.
Yellow Sand Beach is one of the areas used as beach tourism. Coastal tourism is a tourist activity which prioritizes
coastal resources and the culture found in the community. This research was conducted in January 2021–March 2021,
by collecting primary and secondary data. The purpose of this study is to analyze the land suitability index for
recreational beach tourism, analyze the carrying capacity of coastal tourism areas and strategies for developing coastal
tourism at Pasir Kuning Beach. The method used in this research is using purposive sampling method with land
suitability analysis, area carrying capacity and SWOT analysis. Data collection was carried out by means of field
observations and respondent interviews which were determined based on the LTF (Linear Time Function) formula. The
results showed that the yellow sand beach is very suitable to be used as a recreational beach tourism category. Where,
the carrying capacity of the area that can be accommodated in the yellow sand beach area is 1,225 people/day. The
development of yellow sand beach tourism can be done by optimizing the potential of natural resources, making the
yellow sand beach the center of cultural tourism, providing business opportunities, and optimizing government policies
by cooperating with various parties.
