The Difference of Catches on Rattan Frame Bubbles and Iron Frame Bubu in Central Bangka Regency

Abstract

This study aims to find a comparison of fish catches between rattan frame traps and iron frame traps and find out the number, types and weight of fish caught by the traps. This research has the benefit of information for fishermen, especially fishermen in Semujur Island, Central Bangka in the use of bubu fishing gear with effective and environmentally friendly material for fishing. This research was conducted in August in Pulau Semujur Central Bangka Regency, Bangka Islands Province. This research uses the Experimental Fishing method. The data obtained used One-Way ANOVA Test. The results showed there were 14 species of fish found, Baronang (Siganus canaliculatus), Kerapu Sunu (Plectropomus sp.), Sejantung (Scarus ghobban), Ketarap (Choerodon schoenleinii), Kepe-kepe (Chelmon rostratus), Mentrang (Myripristis murdjan), Bujur Timun (Lutjanus carponotatus), Kurisi Pasir (Lutjanus vitta), Sembilang (Paraplotosus albilabris), Ketambak (Lethrinus lentjan), Pari Karang (Taeniura lymma), Seminyak (Diagramma pictum), Iguk (Neogliphidodon crossi), dan Kambing-kambing (Chaetodon octofasciatus). The catches of rattan frame have 265 individual with 22.48 kg and 214 individual iron frame traps weight 16.15 kg. It’s means that there is no significant difference used of rattan frame traps and iron frame traps.
