Abstract

Fish consumption is needed to fulfil  he nutrient needs  in the human body. One of the districts with the potential of fisheries abundance is South Bangka. This research aims to determine the level of fish consumption of the society  in Toboali and Lepar Pongok District, the factors that affects the consumption of fish, and the types of fish consumed by the denizen of Toboali and Lepar Pongok sub district. The  data collection was done in January using purposive sampling method with housewives as respondents. The results showed that the fish consumption in Toboali amounted to 53.46 kg/kap/year, however Lepar Pongok sub-district amounted to 48.69 kg/kap/yea. fish consumption in both districts is higher  than the target of fish consumption in Bangka Belitung Province with the amount of target is  40 kg/KAP/yea. The  factors  that affect the consumption of fish acquired through regression model shows that the level of income, frequency of consumption has significant influence while education and age has no significant effect. The type of fish that is consumed in the community of Toboali subdistrict and Lepar Pongok district There are 41 types of fish such as menggali (Kuwe onion trevally), tongkol, tenggiri, shrimp, sutung (squid), crabs and others.
