Abstract

Oil palm plantations should be viewed and placed as part of ecosystem sustainability mechanisms within communities. This is because the development of oil palm plantations in rural areas has had a major impact on the welfare of the community. Therefore, this study aims to provide the concept of developing smallholder oil palm plantations based on Local Regulation No. 19 of 2017 concerning The Arrangement of Oil Palm Plantation Business. The results of the study show that the development of smallholder oil palm plantations can be carried out through 3 developments, namely the development of environmentally based smallholder oil palm plantations, the sustainability of water sources and infrastructure, and the empowerment of oil palm-cow integration patterns. Seeing this, it can be concluded that the existence of Local Regulation No 19 of 2017 concerning the Arrangement of Oil Palm Plantations is important in an effort to create economic benefits for the community which are carried out legally according to laws and regulations. Thus, it is necessary to continue to disseminate Local Regulation No. 19 of 2017 concerning the Massive Arrangement of Oil Palm Plantations to communities throughout the Bangka Belitung Islands.
