WRITING GUIDELINES

JOURNAL OF INTEGRATED AGRIBUSINESS

The Journal of Integrated Agribusiness accepts articles (research results), literature reviews, and discursive papers (ideas) related to agribusiness, agricultural economics, and agricultural extension and communication. Below are the general rules and guidelines for writing and submitting manuscripts.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  1. Manuscripts submitted should ideally be no older than 2 years from the date of research completion and must not exceed 5,000 words.
  2. Authors are required to submit their manuscripts in soft copy via the OJS platform at the website: https://journal.ubb.ac.id/index.php/jia/login.
  3. Manuscripts must be formatted in Microsoft Word, using Arial font size 11, in a single column with left and right alignment (except for the title, affiliation, abstract, and keywords).
  4. The document should have margins of 2.5 cm on all sides (top, bottom, left, and right), and the entire manuscript, except between paragraphs, should be single-spaced.
  5. Manuscripts may be written in either Indonesian or English, adhering to the style guide (template) of the Journal of Integrated Agribusiness.
  6. The journal emphasizes relevant and up-to-date research. Use primary literature, such as relevant periodicals and patents published within the last 10 years. Lecture notes and textbooks are not considered primary sources. The composition of primary literature (journals) should comprise at least 80% of the total references.
  7. The submitted manuscript must be an original scientific work, based on empirical research or theoretical contributions, free from plagiarism, and must not have been published in any other journal. All authors must agree to publish their work in the Journal of Integrated Agribusiness.

TECHNICAL GUIDELINES FOR JOURNAL WRITING

A. Writing the Title, Author Name, and Affiliation

  1. The title should be written in both Indonesian and English, with a maximum of 20 words.
  2. The title should be capitalized and bolded.
  3. Author names should not include academic titles and must be accompanied by clear institutional affiliation (affiliation/institution, address, postal code, city, province, and email address).
  4. Authors from different institutions should be numbered at the end of the manuscript.
  5. For the corresponding author, information should include an email address.

B. Writing the Abstract and Keywords

  1. The abstract must be well-written in both Indonesian and English.
  2. The abstract should be a single paragraph, single-spaced, in Book Antiqua font size 11, with a maximum of 250 words.
  3. The abstract should contain the objectives, methods or approaches, key findings, and conclusions. Objectives and findings in the abstract should be presented without numbering.
  4. Abbreviations should be clearly defined, and if not used again in the abstract, should be omitted.
  5. Keywords should be italicized and consist of 3-5 words, ordered alphabetically.

C. Structure of the Manuscript

  1. INTRODUCTION: This section should include the background, concepts, previous research results, foundational literature, research objectives, and the novelty offered. The benefits of the research do not need to be stated.
  2. RESEARCH METHODS: This section explains the location and time of the research (within the last 3 years), the type and design of the research used, sampling methods, sample size, research implementation flow, data collection and measurement methods, and data processing and analysis methods. If referring to standard methods or previous research, include the relevant standards/literature, along with the limitations/scope of the research. The methodology section should not have subheadings.
  3. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: This section presents the research findings clearly, depicting the current conditions, trends, connections with theories or previous research (reference literature), implications of the findings, and other interesting points.
  4. CONCLUSION: This section provides a brief explanation of significant results and implications of the research reported in the article, presented in paragraph form (without numbering).
  5. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS (IF ANY): This section expresses gratitude to donors, sponsors, enumerators (if applicable), and others.
  6. REFERENCES: Only references cited in the article should be fully listed in the References section.

Format for Tables and Figures

  1. Images, graphics, and tables should only be used to clarify points that are not easily described in the text (they should be incorporated into the text rather than as appendices).
  2. The maximum number of tables is limited to 6-7. Table titles should be numbered sequentially (1, 2, etc.).
  3. All figures and tables should have titles and numbers, placed at the bottom or top of the page immediately following their mention, without being cut off by columns/pages. If wider, they can utilize a single column (page width).
  4. Figures in graph form must be original (not scanned). Numbers and letters used for descriptions in tables and figures should be in Book Antiqua font size 8 (see examples). Tables (maximum 8 tables) or figures should be spaced 1 line (11 points) from the preceding and following paragraphs.

References

Only references cited in the article should be fully listed in the References section. References (preferably from academic journals and avoiding undergraduate theses) should be formatted alphabetically, starting with the author's last name followed by initials without commas. If there are more than five authors, only the first author should be listed followed by "et al." with the publication year, book title, and journal name (in italics). If the source is from the internet, it must include the source link and the date accessed. The composition of primary literature (journals) should comprise at least 80% of the total references.
