Analysis of Coastline Changes Caused by Tin Mining Activities in Matras Waters
Keywords:
Abrasion, Accretion, Shoreline, Matras BeachAbstract
Matras Beach is located in Sungailiat District, Bangka Regency which has great potential in the field of capture fisheries and tourism. In general, the coastline experiences changes over time due to abrasion and accretion. Changes in the coastline can be caused by several factors, one of which is tin mining on Matras Beach. This study aims to determine the changes and rate of change in the coastline in 2020 to 2022 that occurred at Matras Beach due to tin mining on the beach using Sentinel 2-A satellite imagery. The methods used in this research are digitization and Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS). The results of this study indicate that Matras Beach experienced a land reduction (abrasion) of -78.51 m at a rate of -34.16 m/year and an increase in land (accretion) of 9.86 m at a rate of 4.29 m/year and resulted in an abrasion area of 11.12 ha and accretion of 0.183 ha.
