Utilization Of Google Earth Engine (Gee) Based Satellite Imagery For The Distribution Of Seagrass Meadows In Tanjung Sangkar Waters, South Bangka Regency
Abstract
Tanjung Sangkar is a village located in Lepar Pongok Sub-district, Lepar Island, South Bangka Regency. The waters of Tanjung Sangkar are known for their marine biodiversity, especially seagrass beds and coral reefs. Remote sensing techniques using cloud computing methods utilizing satellite imagery based on Google Earth Engine can provide information on seagrass distribution in Tanjung Sangkar Waters. Using Sentinel-2A satellite imagery with a spatial resolution of 10 m, this research will provide information related to seagrass distribution in Tanjung Sangkar Waters. Based on the results of supervised classification using the SVM (Super Vector Machine) algorithm, the class shows different colors. There are 3 classes, deep sea, shallow sea and seagrass. The seagrass distribution area in Tanjung Sangkar Waters has a value of around 88.38 ha. Four seagrass species were found in Tanjung Sangkar Waters, namely, Cymodocea rotundata, Thalassia hemprichii, Enhalus acoroides, and Syringodium isoetifolium. The percentage of seagrass cover based on the results of field surveys has an average value of 38.65%, indicating the criteria of “less healthy”. The largest seagrass cover in this study was found at location point 3 which amounted to 58.52%, and the lowest cover was at location point 2 which was 32.67%.
