System of Maintenance and Contribution of Local Chicken Livestock Business (Gallus Domesticus) to Household Income of Farmers in Sinar Jaya Jelutung Village Sungailiat District

Abstract

This study aims (1^st) to describe the system for maintaining local chicken livestock in Sinar Jaya Jelutung Village, Sungailiat District. (2 ^nd) Calculating the contribution of local chicken farms to the household income of local chicken farmers in Sinar Jaya Jelutung Village, Sungailiat District. This research was conducted in Sinar Jaya Jelutung Village, Sungailiat District, Bangka Regency and from February to October 2018. The research method used a survey method, while the sampling method used a purposive sampling method. Processing methods and data analysis explained in qualitative descriptive and quantitative descriptions.

Research results show that (1) In this study semi-intensive maintenance systems are more dominant than intensive maintenance systems. With a ratio of 34 people or 94.44 percent in semi intensive maintenance while in intensive care as many as 2 people or 5.56 percent. (2) The contribution of income of free-range chicken in Sinar Jaya Jelutung Village, in the semi-intensive maintenance system is (8,24% / year) while in the intensive maintenance system is equal to (7.16% / year). The income contribution from the business of free-range chicken in Sinar Jaya Jelutug Village has not fulfilled the welfare of farmers, this is because farmers in Sinar Jaya Jelutung Village are relatively small in raising native chickens, which are around 15 per farmer so that the livestock contribution and income are not high.
